VIDEO: Cursing Woman Arrested Friday by Redlands Police on East State Street

The 25-year-old woman was handcuffed and placed in a police squad car about 7:30 p.m. on East State Street at N. 5th Street.

Redlands police took a cursing woman into custody Friday evening on East State Street as passersby and diners at Farm-Artisan Foods looked on.

She was handcuffed and placed in a police squad car about 7:30 p.m. A spokesman for the police department said she arrested on suspicion being drunk in public.

Before the arrest, police questioned the woman and a male friend for several minutes as they sat on a bench at East State and North 5th.

After one officer cuffed the woman's wrists behind her back, she began cursing and shouting racial epithets at both officers.

She struggled a bit as the two officers present placed her in the back of the police car.

The woman was identified by police as Ashley Lynn Watson, 25, a transient. Being drunk in public is a misdemeanor offense.

State Street is in the heart of Redlands, home to several restaurants and multiple other businesses, and it is the venue for the city's weekly Market Nights.
