A car overturned and smashed into other vehicles this week in front of Mariposa Elementary School, where Redlands firefighters used tools to cut the roof off the Toyota and rescue a trapped motorist, according to fire and city officials.

The wreck occurred about 2 p.m. Wednesday in the 30800 block of Palo Alto Drive, where the elementary school is located, Redlands spokesman Carl Baker said.
