Deputies Search for Robber Who Beat Elder Couple

San Bernardino Sheriff's deputies are searching for a man they say broke into a home and beat the 84- and 91-year-old residents.

An elderly couple, who were beaten by a burglar who broke into their home while they slept, is recovering at Loma Linda University Medical Center today.

The incident was reported at 4:24 a.m. Jan. 19 at a home in 900 block of 40th Street in the unincorporated area of San Bernardino.

Authorities said an 84-year-old elderly female called into 9-1-1 to report that a man was inside their home.  When the intruder realized the woman was awake, he began to beat her, according to Sheriff’s officials.
