Deputies Search for Yucaipa Juan Pollo Robber

Even after utilizing the sheriff's department's helicopter, Yucaipa deputies could not locate a man suspected of holding up a local chicken restaurant.

A man suspected of holding up a clerk at a Yucaipa eatery was sought Friday.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, a robber walked into the Juan Pollo restaurant on County Line Road, near Calimesa Blvd. around 6:45 p.m. Thursday.

"Upon arrival, deputies learned that an unknown black male adult, had entered the restaurant armed with a revolver and demanded money from the cashier," a statement from the sheriff's department says.  "The cashier immediately complied and gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money from the register."

Once he got what he wanted, the suspect ran from the location, and was last seen headed south though a parking lot, and then towards Calimesa Blvd., according to sheriff's officials.

"The area was searched extensively by responding Yucaipa Deputies, Sheriff's Aviation and Riverside/Calimesa Deputies, who also responded to assist," the department said.  "Unfortunately, the suspect was not located."

Anyone who may have information in the incident was asked to contact the Yucaipa sheriff's department station at (909) 790-3104.
