Doctor Accused of Sexual Misconduct Allowed to Treat Women

A judge has decided that Dr. Ramon Fakhoury may treat female patients. Fakhoury is accused of sexually assaulting two women at a Loma Linda urgent care.

A judge on Monday decided that a doctor accused of sexually assaulting two female patients should be allowed to treat women, but only under supervision.

Judge Kenneth Barr made his decision based on a recommendation by the California Medical Board, which is also investigating 35-year-old doctor Ramon Fawzi Fakhoury, of Norco.

The decision was made over the objections of Deputy District Attorney Tristan Svare.

Fakhoury has been charged with eight felony counts of forcible acts of sexual penetration, sexual battery, assault with the intent to commit felony and crimes against an elder adult.

Loma Linda Police investigators say the assault happened in July while Fakhoury was the attending physician at Loma Linda University’s Urgent Care Center on the East Campus.

A 32-year-old woman told authorities she had sought treatment for chest pains and was assaulted by Fakhoury during the examination, Loma Linda Police investigators said.

The woman reported the alleged incident two days later to the center’s medical staff. The hospital launched an investigation and learned that a 68-year-old female patient also claimed she had been assaulted by Fakhoury during an exam, police officials said.

Fakhoury is not a full-time physician at Loma Linda University Medical Center and has been dismissed from his part-time duties, medical center officials said in a written statement.

Investigators said he has been licensed to practice medicine for six years in the state of California and Ohio and has medical offices in Rancho Cucamonga and Norco.

Fakhoury is out on $500,000 bail and cannot have any contact with the victims.

Investigators suspect there are more victims who have not come forward. They ask any who believes they were assaulted by Fakhoury to contact Detective Mark Hubbard or Detective Ken Green at (909) 387-3545.
