DUI Checkpoints Scheduled Around Loma Linda, Redlands

The activities are part of the nation-wide crackdown by agencies in preparation for Labor Day weekend.

Police agenices are getting ready for Labor Day weekend by increasing patrols and planning DUI/Driver's License checkpoints around the region as part of the "Avoid the 25" campaign.

Redlands Police has scheduled two checkpoints for this weekend as part of the effort, according to a department news release.

The first will be from 10 p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. Saturday in the eastbound lanes of Citrus Avenue, east of Church Street. The second will be from 10 p.m. Saturday until 3 a.m. Sunday in the southbound lanes of Tennessee Street south of Park Avenue.

These will be the second and third checkpoints run by Redlands Police during this enforcement period. During the first, two people were arrested for driving under the influence and a third person was arrested for possession of methamphetamine on Aug. 20.

The Loma Linda Police Department and San Bernardino County Sheriff's have scheduled a checkpoint from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Sept. 3 along Redlands Boulevard.

Redlands Police will also conduct a targeted DUI patrol on Aug. 29, and is planning two more checkpoints during the 18-day campaign.
