Also early Wednesday, investigators arrested Kenneth Dewayne Gillis, 20, of Victorville, on suspicion of being an accessory.

"Investigators believe Gillis assisted both Mundo and Gallagher by transporting them from the Devore area after the escape from custody," Cindy Bachman of the sheriff's Public Affairs Division said Wednesday evening.

Before they escaped, Mundo and Gallagher were both in custody for robbery and assault with a deadly weapon, and they were scheduled for court on June 26 in Rancho Cucamonga, sheriff's officials said.
