FBI Searches for Another Bank Robber Who Struck Nearby Bank

Authorities are asking the public's help in finding the gunman who robbed a US Bank.

While FBI and Redlands Police continue their search for the Greenhorn Bandits, officials are asking the public to help find a gunman who robbed the US Bank in Beaumont on Friday.

The armed bank robbery was reported to police about 10:20 a.m. at 1410 Beaumont Ave., in a busy shopping center that includes a Starbucks cafe, a Walgreen's pharmacy, and a Stater Bros. grocery store.

"A male suspect entered the bank with a handgun and ordered the employees to give him money," said a statement distributed by Beaumont spokeswoman Darci Mulvihill.

The robber and another suspect took off in a burgundy colored van that they ditched by the Domino's Pizza in the same shopping center, a city spokeswoman said.

The gunman took an undisclosed amount of money. No one was harmed during the incident.

Police searched the surrounding area, which includes a gated apartment complex just north of Stater Bros., but did not find the suspects.

"The getaway van was abandoned and located by Domino's Pizza, nearby in the same shopping center," the statement said.

The suspects were believed to have switched from the van to a silver Dodge Durango, which was later found abandoned in the area of Cougar Way and Beaumont Avenue, the statement said.

Both getaway vehicles had previously been reported stolen.

The suspect who entered the bank was described as a black man, thin build, about 5-feet-8  and 180 to 200 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a light-colored, inside-out sweater, light-colored jeans, and a ski mask.

The suspect in the van was last seen wearing a dark-colored jacket and dark pants.

An FBI agent responded to the bank robbery investigation on Beaumont Avenue, Laura Eimiller of the FBI said.

The FBI was investigating three recent robberies in Diamond Bar, San Dimas and Redlands, attributed by the FBI to three men they call the "Greenhorn Bandits," Eimiller said.

The Beaumont robbery appeared unrelated to the Greenhorn Bandits, based on differing methods, "but we have not ruled it out," Eimiller said.

Anyone with further information about the robbery was urged to call the Detective Bureau of the Beaumont Police Department at (951) 769-8500. Information can also be sent to crimetips@beaumontpd.org or reported anonymously to WeTip at 1-800-78-CRIME.
