Fire South of Redlands and Loma Linda is in Dry Poorman's Reservoir in MoVal

A fire burning Friday afternoon south of Redlands and Loma Linda was in dry Poorman's Reservoir in Moreno Valley, according to Cal Fire.

The fire was reported at 4:21 p.m. July 19 near Heacock Street and Sandy Glade Avenue, Jody Hagemann of Cal Fire-Riverside County said in a statement.

"Upon arrival the first on-scene engine company reported approximately two acres burning in heavy fuels burning in a reservoir at a moderate rate," Hagemann said.

By 5:40 p.m. the fire was estimated at 40 acres and 50 percent contained, Hagemann said.

More than 100 firefighters were trying to put the fire out and they were supported by at least one helicopter crew, according to Hagemann.

Agencies that responded included Cal Fire-San Luis Obispo, Cal Fire-Riverside, Cal Fire-San Bernardino, March Air Reserve Base, and Riverside City Fire Department.
