Flash Flood Watch to Saturday Evening

'Monsoonal moisture in southeast flow aloft will continue' in the Redlands-Loma Linda area and in the San Bernardino Mountains, the National Weather Service advised Aug. 18.

A flash flood watch was issued for Saturday afternoon and evening for an area including the Redlands-Loma Linda area and the San Bernardino Mountains, with potential for isolated thunderstorms and heavy rains.

"Monsoonal moisture in southeast flow aloft will continue today . . . with sufficient daytime heating and instability," the National Weather Service advised. "This will feed slow-moving thunderstorms with the moisture needed to cause very large rainfall amounts and flash flooding."

Some people walking on the north side of Mill Creek near Big Falls were cut off Friday by a sudden surge in the wash, volunteers at the Big Falls picnic area visitors booth said Saturday. A swift-water rescue team responded to help the stranded people cross the swollen creek.
