Fontana Man Arrested Following Death of Estranged Girlfriend at Hospital

The two arrived at Loma Linda University Medical Center on Thursday suffering from injuries.

A Fontana man is in jail today after officials say he fatally stabbed the mother of his child.

Tony Franco, 38, was booked into the Central Detention Center on suspicion of murder in the death of his estranged girlfriend, Isabel Gomez, 26, of San Bernardino. He is being held without bail.

Loma Linda Police officers were called to Loma Linda University Medical Center about noon Thursday after a man and woman arrived at the emergency room with serious injuries. When officers arrived, they were notified that the woman, who had a stab wound, was in grave condition. She would later die. The male, Franco, was treated for his injuries and released.

Following his release, Franco was interviewed by investigators and arrested.

Homicide investigators believe the two had been at the Carl’s Jr. restaurant at Sierra Avenue and Highway 210 shortly before arriving at the hospital. The two were driving a newer model, dark grey Nissan Armada SUV, which police say had fresh collision damage. Homicide investigators are seeking witnesses who may have seen the vehicle driving erratically or being involved in a collision to come forward.
