Homicide Suspect Shot, Killed by SB Sheriff's

Tory Reed, 28, of Rialto, a suspect in a double homicide, was shot and killed after charging at detectives who were trying to arrest him.

A man wanted in connection with a Colton double homicide was shot and killed by deputies April 19 after he reportedly charged at them.

About 4:45 p.m., authorities tried to arrest Tory Reed, 28,  of Rialto, in connection with the slayings of Darnell D. Haley, 25, of Pomona and Breana Neiro, 22, Colton.

Detectives tracked Reed to an apartment building in the 4000 block of North F Street in San Bernardino. When detectives tried to take Reed into custody, he barricaded himself inside the apartment, officials said.

Detectives evacuated the apartments next to Reed’s and made several calls for his surrender, but Reed ignored the commands by the negotiator, officials said.

Just before 6 p.m., the detectives slowly began to make their entrance into the apartment. They broke out the apartment’s front window and shined a spotlight into the living room. When they went in to make the arrest, officials said he charged at them, forcing them to shoot.

Reed collapsed. The apartment was searched. When no one else was found, paramedics were brought in treat Reed, but he died at the scene, sheriff’s officials said.

Colton Police officers say just after 4:30 a.m. on April 17, Reed forced his way into a home in the 800 block of East Washington Street, where he confronted Haley and Neiro, Colton Police officials said. Reed reportedly shot both victims several times.

Sheriff's Homicide Detail will conduct the investigation into the officer involved shooting.  And an autopsy will be conducted to determine provide an official cause of death for Reed.
