Investigators were looking Tuesday for a damaged vehicle suspected in the hit-and-run death of a bicyclist in northeast Rancho Cucamonga on Thursday July 12.

At 11:55 p.m. that night, Alex Patrick Silva, 25, of Fontana, was riding a bicycle along with a friend east on Wilson Avenue just east of San Sevaine Road, when he was struck from behind by an automobile, the coroner reported.

The driver slowed, continued driving, and headed south on Cherry Avenue, deputies said. The driver did not stop and render first aid or call for medical aid.

Over the weekend, Rancho Cucamonga traffic investigators received several calls from witnesses about the fatal collision and they provided additional detail about the suspect vehicle, according to the Sheriff's Department.
