Kittens Rescued from Burning Building

The fire was reported about 10:20 a.m. Saturday Sept. 8 in the 900 block of 6th Street in Redlands, a battalion chief said.

Fire damaged a garage Saturday morning in Redlands and firefighters rescued two kittens from the burning building, a commander said.

The fire was reported about 10:20 a.m. Saturday Sept. 8 in a detached garage in the 900 block of 6th Street, Redlands fire Battalion Chief Scott MacDonald said in a statement.

"It took 16 firefighters 15 minutes to control the fire," MacDonald said. "Firefighters did rescue two kittens from the burning building."

No injuries were reported, MacDonald said. Damage was estimated at $25,000 to the structure and $10,000 to contents of the garage.

The kittens were turned over to Redlands Animal Control to be cared for until they are able to be adopted, MacDonald said.

The cause of the fire was being investigated. Anyone with information was urged to call the Redlands Fire Department at (909) 798-7600.
