Man is Jailed After Reportedly Making Obscene Comments to Teen Then Threatening Her Life

Police said the 17-year-old girl was simply walking home when the suspect approached her.

A 41-year-old Grand Terrace man who reportedly made lewd comments to a teenage girl then threatened to kill her has been arrested.

The 17-year-young girl, whose name was not released, had been walking home when she was approached by Eric Smith in the area of 1700 block of Mount Vernon Avenue.

The two spoke for a bit. Smith started to walk with her and made the obscene comments and threatened her, police officials said. The young woman was able to ditch him and call police.

Officers found Smith in the walking on Brentwood Street and arrested him on suspicion of annoying/molesting a child. He was booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamoga.
