An armed robbery suspect fatally wounded by San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies was identified Saturday as a Hemet resident.
Clyde Ryan Murray, 33, died of his injuries Friday at Loma Linda University Medical Center following the shooting at the Days Inn motel on Highland Avenue, according to the San Bernardino County Coroner.
Sheriff's deputies and detectives tried arresting Murray at the motel -- in
the 1300 block of Highland Avenue -- where he had been staying.
About 10 p.m. Thursday, Specialized Enforcement Team deputies set up surveillance at the Days Inn, according to a sheriff's news release.
At 9:26 a.m. Friday, SET deputies saw the suspect walk out of the room.
"Based on the suspect's actions, an officer-involved shooting occurred," the statement read.
"The suspect was found to be in possession of a handgun," the statement went on to say.
Murray was wanted in connection for a number of armed robberies in San
Bernardino County, authorities said.
