Man Shot in Leg, Tells Deputy it Happened in Rio Ranch Market Parking Lot

A man was shot in the leg and he told a deputy early Tuesday it happened in the parking lot at Rio Ranch Market in Highland, according to the Sheriff's Department.

The wounded man, identified as 23-year-old Timothy Jackson, arrived at St. Bernardine's Hospital suffering from a gun shot wound to his left leg shortly after 1 a.m. Aug. 6, Highland Station personnel said in a statement.

"The victim stated he was shot by an unknown subject in the parking lot of the Rio Ranch Market, at the intersection of 9th Street and Sterling Avenue," deputies said.

Investigators went to the parking lot and "were unable to locate a crime scene," deputies said. "Additional investigation into the incident is currently ongoing."
