Man Suspected of Stealing Metal from Redlands Business

Police say they caught the man as he tried to leave with metal stolen from SureCast West.

Redlands Police arrested a 31-year-old Yucaipa man Monday on suspicion that he stole more than $2,000 worth of metal from a Redlands business.

Christopher Andrew Whalen was taken into custody around 4:30 p.m. after a witness reported seeing someone stealing materials from SureCast West, in the 8200 block of Alabama Street. The business sells pre-cast concrete products.

Officers set up a perimeter around the area and arrested Whalen as he drove away with the metal in the back of his truck, police officials said.
