Marijuana Cultivation Operation Found at Loma Linda Home

Six people were arrested, including members of an Asian street gang based in Long Beach. An 8-year-old girl was among the residents of the home.

Police conducting a traffic stop turned up a marijuana cultivation operation inside a Loma Linda home.

Six people were arrested, including a 17-year-old male, according to a San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department report released Tuesday.

Deputy Donald Patton pulled over a car because of vehicle code violations Saturday, and the car pulled into the driveway of a residence in the 10600 block of Poplar Street.

During the traffic stop, 28-year-old Samet Tuon came out of the residence, and was identified as a person on felony probation for possession of marijuana. The officer conducted a probation search of his bedroom inside the home, and found about a quarter pound of marijuana. Tuon was arrested and booked into County Jail on Saturday.

Deputies returned to the home about 8:30 a.m. Monday with a search warrant, and found marijuana plants inside the home's detatched garage, as well as in the rooms of 25-year-olds Harry Ly and Sovat Sim -- who were in the car during the original traffic stop.

Also inside the home were Armond Lair, 22, and Tammy Flaherty, 40, and her 17-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter.

Also in their search, police found gun ammunition, gang paraphanalia, a billy club and items used in the sale of marijuana. Deputies say Ly, Sim and Tuon are self-admitted members of the Oriental Soldiers street gang from Long Beach.

Child Protective Services was called and took custody of the 8-year-old and Loma Linda Code Enforcement officers responded to the residence and inspected it for safety issues. The Sheriff's Bomb and Arson Team also responded because of illegal fireworks found in the home.

The five adults were booked into county jail on charges of cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale, maintaining narcotics inside a residence, conspiracy, child endangerment, felon in possession of ammunition, participation in a criminal street gang and possession of a deadly weapon.

Ly and Sim are both in the Central Detention Center in lieu of $100,000 bail, while Tuon is behind held without bail due to his probation violation, according to jail records. Both Flaherty and Lair have been released on $100,000 bail.

The 17-year-old was taken to San Bernardino Juvenile Hall on charges of possession of a deadly weapon.
