A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday in a multi-vehicle crash near Big Bear City and his woman passenger was flown by helicopter to Loma Linda University Medical Center, the CHP reported.

The crash occurred around 3 p.m. Sept. 26 on State Route 18 at Delta Avenue on the north side of Baldwin Lake, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Marilyn Hutson, 61, of Big Bear City was driving a 2011 Honda Accord south on the 18 when she stopped behind another vehicle that was stopped at Delta Avenue with a left turn signal flashing, Benjamin Baker of the Arrowhead Area CHP said in a statement.

Behind Hutson were man and a woman on a 2005 Harley-Davidson, also heading south on the 18, Baker said.

The Harley-Davidson struck Hutson's Honda, and then the motorcycle struck a northbound Harley-Davison, ridden by Bjarne Rahbek of Denmark, Baker said.

All the bikers came off their machines in the crash, Baker said.

"The unknown male rider was declared deceased at the scene of the collision," Baker said. "The unknown female passenger received major injuries and was transported by Mercy Air to Loma Linda Medical Center."

Rahbek sustained minor injuries and he was transported by San Bernardino County Fire Department to Bear Valley Community Hospital. Hutson was not injured.

An investigation of the crash was continuing.

Big Bear City is about 50 miles up State Route 38 from downtown Redlands and Loma Linda.
