One Arrested and Two on Trial in Connection With Fatal Stabbing

George Briones died April 18 at Loma Linda University Medical Center after he was stabbed.

A man has been arrested and two others have been charged with murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 36-year-old San Bernardino man who died at Loma Linda University Medical Center.

On Wednesday, detectives arrested 20-year-old Jesus Lucas Gonzalez in the 900 block of Mayfield Avenue, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s. He was booked into Central Detention Center.

William Shoopman, 26, and Angel Rosales, 21, were arrested April 18 in the 600 block of E. Third Street in San Bernardino near the scene of the stabbing, sheriff’s officials said.

All three are suspected of killing George Briones, officials said.

At 11:23 p.m., on April 17, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to several 911 calls in the 7200 block of Tippecanoe Avenue in San Bernardino. Briones was found lying in the yard of a home. He had been stabbed, officials said.

Briones was taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he died at 12:22 a.m. April 18. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

While Shoopman and Rosales were arrested near the scene, Gonzalez had to be tracked down, officials said.
