One Arrested During DUI Enforcement in Redlands, Six Cited on Traffic Violations

A grant-funded sobriety saturation patrol was staged Saturday in Redlands, a city spokesman said.

Redlands police arrested one motorist for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs during a sobriety saturation patrol Saturday Aug. 4, a city spokesman announced Thursday.

Six drivers were cited Aug. 4 for traffic violations during a separate traffic enforcement operation, Redlands spokesman Carl Baker said.

A Redlands police pilot in a plane called Air 10 assisted traffic officers with enforcement from 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Aug. 4 on San Timoteo Canyon Road and Live Oak Canyon Road, Baker said.

"Four drivers were cited for passing over the double-yellow center lines, another driver was cited for running a stop sign and another for speeding," Baker said.

During the sobriety patrol, Redlands police stopped 12 vehicles and performed three field sobriety tests between 9 p.m. Aug. 4 and 1:30 a.m. Aug. 5, Baker said. One driver was arrested for driving under the influence.

Both enforcement operations were grant-funded, Baker said.

Back on July 13, Redlands police arrested two people for driving under the influence near Brookside Avenue at Eureka Street, Baker added.

Funding for DUI enforcement and traffic enforcement operations in Redlands comes through grants from the California Office of Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
