A man on active parole was arrested in Highland on suspicion of possessing stolen property when he was stopped in a Hertz rental car reported stolen from San Bernardino, deputies said Tuesday.
Ryan Thomas, 33, of San Bernardino, was arrested at 5:10 p.m. Nov. 26 at 13th and Sterling in Highland, and he was released on bail early Tuesday, according to inmate records.
A deputy on patrol spotted the reported stolen white Nissan in the area of Base Line and Victoria Street, north of Redlands and Loma Linda, about 4:30 p.m. Monday, Highland deputies said in a statement.
"A computer check confirmed that the vehicle was stolen out of San Bernardino and a report had been filed with San Bernardino Police Department," the statement said. "A felony car stop was conducted and three subjects were detained."
Deputies determined Thomas rented the vehicle from Hertz Rental Cars in San Bernardino and allegedly never returned the vehicle, according to the Sheriff's Department.
Thomas was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property and found to be on active parole, deputies said.
