PHOTOS: Hot, Humid Day Ends with House Fire, One Injured

Saturday was warm and humid in Redlands, Loma Linda, Yucaipa, the San Gorgonio Pass and other parts of the Inland Empire.

It ended with a fire inside a single-story home about 6:25 p.m. on Kalmia Avenue just east of Lombardy Lane in Moreno Valley.

Rosa Mosqueda lives across the street from where the fire broke out and described what she saw to Redlands-Loma Linda Patch:

"Like around 6:25 we started seeing smoke come out of their house and we saw our neighbor running around screaming, so I came outside and called the fire department," Mosqueda said.

"Basically I told her to get out of the house, to stay outside because she was running in and out," Mosqueda said. "Out of nowhere just flames started coming out and that's when the fire department got here."

A contingent of 27 firefighters from five engine companies and two truck companies had the fire contained at 7:01 p.m., according to Cal Fire-Riverside County.

One civilian patient was taken by ground ambulance to an area hospital, according to Cal Fire spokesman Mark Annas. No firefighters were injured.

Agencies that responded included American Medical Response, CAL FIRE/Riverside, Moreno Valley Emergency Response Force, Moreno Valley police, Southern California Edison and Southern California Gas Company.
