Police: Husband Shot Wife and Self Outside Her Home

Jesus Figueroa and Elizabeth Figueroa were found shot to death in the driveway of her Highland home. They suspect Jesus himself was the shooter.

A husband and wife in the middle of a difficult divorce were found dead Tuesday following what Highland Police suspect was a murder-suicide.

Jesus Figueroa, 59, and Elizabeth Figueroa, 55, were found lying in the driveway of her home in 27200 block of Clifton Avenue in Highland.

A witness called police at 9:27 a.m. to report the bodies. Deputies found the couple dead at the scene. Both had been shot.

The couple was separated and in the process of a divorce, officials said.  Investigators believe that sometime during the morning, Jesus Figueroa arrived at the home, pulled a gun and shot Elizabeth Figueroa. He then turned the gun on himself, they said.

Investigators did not know what time the shooting occurred. No one reported hearing shots heard in the area, officials said.
