Redlands Man, Alleged Gang Member, Accused of Residential Burglary in Highland

A Redlands man, an alleged gang member, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of burglary and possessing stolen property in connection with a residential break-in in Highland, according to the Sheriff's Department.

The suspect, identified as Joseph Daniel Olmos, 18, of Redlands, was held Friday evening at Central Detention Center on $125,000 bail, according to inmate records.

The alleged burglary was reported Aug. 7 in the 7500 block of Peacock Avenue, Highland Station personnel said in a statement issued Friday.

"The incident occurred between the hours of 0700 and 1430, when unknown subject(s) entered the victim's residence by forcing a hole in the patio addition to the residence," deputies said.

"Upon entry, the subjects took numerous items including two firearms," deputies said. "During the burglary, one of the suspects dropped his cell phone inside the residence. Through investigation, the suspect was identified as Joseph Olmos, a documented North Side Redlands Gang Member."

Deputies served a search warrant at Olmos' residence in the 1500 block of Webster Street in Redlands. Items from the alleged burglary were recovered, Highland Station personnel said.

Olmos was arrested at 6 p.m. Aug. 14 and booked at Central Detention Center.
