Jason Eulalio Sandoval was arrested on suspicion of shooting at an inhabited dwelling as well as a probation violation.

A 31-year-old Redlands man has been arrested in connection with the Oct. 29 shooting at an apartment complex.

Investigators believe the motive for the shooting was a physical fight that occurred about 5:30 p.m. involving Sandoval and two other men near Sandoval’s apartment in the 1200 block of Central Avenue in Redlands.

Police responded to the call of the fight, but by the time they arrived Sandoval had already left the area, officials said.

Investigators said Sandoval returned to the apartment building about 10:40 p.m. and fired several rounds at an apartment where a family member of one of the men involved in the fight lived.

No one was inside the apartment at the time of the shooting, but the surrounding apartments in the building were all occupied at the time with some residents sleeping, officials said. Police said they found one bullet inside the targeted apartment and damage to the stucco outside the building. None of the other apartment interiors appeared to be damaged.

Witnesses told police the shooter left in a 2003 GMC pickup.

On Tuesday, investigators tracked Sandoval to the home of a family on Arden Avenue, near Highway 210 in San Bernardino. He was arrested as he was leaving in a family member’s vehicle. His truck was found inside the complex. During a search of the car, officers found evidence that connected Sandoval with the shooting, though they did not recover the gun, officials said.
