Update 5:59 p.m. Herculez Gomez scored in the 72nd minute to make it US 3-1 Antigua-Barbuda.
Update 5:54 p.m. Peter Byers for Antigua-Barbuda scored in the second half to make the score 2-1. The US has squandered several chances.
Posted 5:34 p.m. Redlands native Landon Donovan drew a penalty just before halftime Friday in Florida and Clint Dempsey buried the spotkick to give the United States a 2-0 lead over Antigua-Barbuda in a qualifier for Brazil 2014.
Herculez Gomez forced a rebound from the keeper in the 8th minute and Carlos Bocanegra pounced to score from close range to give the US a 1-0 lead in Tampa.
The Americans face a more difficult qualifier on the road Tuesday June 12 when they play Guatemala at Estadio Mateo Flores in Guatemala City.
