The first theft occurred late Monday Aug. 27 or early Tuesday Aug. 28, when someone forced entry into the school'’s metal and wood shop, Redlands police spokesman Carl Baker said.

About $4,000 worth of tools - including a welder, a drill press, drills, routers, saws and other power tools - were reported stolen, Baker said.

The second theft occurred late Saturday Sept. 1 or early Sunday Sept. 2, Baker said. Someone stole a yellow 1973 International pickup, which belonged to an instructor at the school, and a riding mower, both from the same location.

San Bernardino police recovered the stolen truck Sept. 4 at a residence on 44th Street in San Bernardino and notified Redlands police, Baker said.

Redlands police identified Mitchell as being in possession of the stolen truck in San Bernardino, Baker said. They also found property stolen from the Grove School at a pawn shop in San Bernardino, and identified Mitchell as the man who pawned the stolen property.

"Mitchell is on parole for grand theft auto and wanted for violating the terms of his parole prior to the thefts," Baker said. "Witnesses report that Mitchell has been seen in Redlands and San Bernardino."

Baker urged anyone who sees Mitchell to call 911 immediately. Anyone with information about additional stolen property or Mitchell's whereabouts was asked to contact Detective Andy Capps at (909) 798-7642 or Redlands Police Dispatch at (909) 798-7681.
