Redlands PD Will Target DUI Drivers

A DUI checkpoint and a saturation patrol are scheduled for the weekend.

The Redlands Police Department has scheduled a DUI/drivers license checkpoint from 10 p.m. Friday through 3 a.m. Saturday in the eastbound lanes of Colton Avenue, west of Texas Street.

Officers will check for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment in motorists, officials said.  Officers will also check for proper licensing, officials said.  When possible, specially trained officers will be available to evaluate those suspected of drug-impaired driving, officers said.

On Saturday officers will also conduct a grant-funded “saturation” patrol also targeting DUI drivers.

Officers warned that drivers caught driving while impaired could expect jail, license suspension, and insurance increases, high fines, fees, DUI classes and other expenses that can exceed $10,000.

On Saturday, March 9, traffic officers conducting a grant-funded DUI “saturation” patrol arrested two drivers suspected of driving under the influence, police officials said.
