San Bernardino Man Arrested in Grand Terrace Shooting Death of Yucaipa Man

Michael Jamal Williams, 26, was arrested Sunday in Grand Terrace, sheriff's officials said Tuesday.

A San Bernardino man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of murder in the shooting death Friday in Grand Terrace of David Preston, 27, of Yucaipa, sheriff's officials said Tuesday.

The shooting occurred about 6:25 p.m. Friday in the 22000 block of De Berry Street, just south of Barton Road and east of the 215 Freeway, the San Bernardino County coroner reported.

Preston was taken by ambulance to the LLUMC emergency room, where he at 7:30 p.m., the coroner reported.

Detectives identified the suspect as Michael Jamal Williams, 26, of San Bernardino, a sheriff's Homicide Detail supervisor said Tuesday in a statement.

Williams was taken into custody late Sunday, when personnel from the sheriff's Specialized Enforcement Division conducted a traffic stop in Grand Terrace. He was arrested in the 22900 block of De Berry Street, according to inmate records. Williams was a passenger in the vehicle.

Williams was booked at Central Detention Center in San Bernardino on suspicion of murder, sheriff's officials said.

He had a court appearance Tuesday. He was being held without bail, according to inmate records. His booking photo was not released.
