Search Warrant Details Assault that Sent Child to Loma Linda Medical Center

Young girl tells police she does not remember how she was injured. But she does remember a man tried to strangle her, making her throat and tongue hurt.

Search warrants recently released by Riverside Superior Court detail the brutal assault of a 9-year-old child allegedly at the hands of an illegal immigrant.

Jose Wilson Rojas Guzman, 30, is facing charges of attempted murder, kidnapping with injury and aggravated child sexual assault for reportedly taking the child from her home as she slept with her 12-year-old brother and 3-year-old-sister.

The warrants detail how the child was carried out of her home on May 7 and taken by vehicle. The youngster’s side of the story is also told in the warrants. She told police she did know how she got injured, only that a man tried to strangle her making her throat and tongue hurt.

She does remember that the man took her out of the car and threw her on “the grass.”

The child told authorities she then ran to some houses, where she started knocking on doors. She was found in the area of Giles Court, adjacent to the La Sierra University campus, about 2 1/2 miles from where she was taken.

Physicians at Parkview Hospital determined she had been seriously injured during a sexual assault. The girl was transferred in serious condition to Loma Linda University Medical Center.

She has since recovered and was released from the hospital.
