Second Man Sentenced in Teen Sex Case

Jason Anguiano will serve 180 days in jail in exchange for a guilty plea in the case that also involves former Sheriff's Deputy Nathan Gastineau.

The second defendant in a teen sex scandal that involved a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputy was sentenced Thursday to probation and 180 days in jail.

Jason Anguiano, 27, of Rialto has agreed to plead guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse and must serve 180 in jail and three years probation. He will be given credit for time served.

He will also be required to complete a sexual offenders treatment program and submit to HIV/AIDS testing, officials said.

Anguiano is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl he met through fan club co-founded by Nathan Gastineau, a former deputy who was based out of Highland.

Officials allege Gastineau became involved with the girl while she was a member of the Sheriff’s explorer program. Gastineau was in charge of the Highland station’s program at the time, according to prosecutors.

Originally, Anguiano’s charges also included two counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object. He had pleaded not guilty.

But on July 7, district attorney officials say he changed his plea to guilty in exchange for the plea deal. Anguiano will not have to register as a sex offender, officials said.

The young woman’s mother addressed the court Thursday.

According to the San Bernardino Sun, the woman told the court, "He has taken a piece of my daughter's innocence that she will never get back."

Gastineau is preparing to go to trial for his involvement with the girl. The former deputy will have a court hearing on Aug. 25.
