Sheriff's Department Reinstates Explorer's Program Ride-Alongs

The program was suspended in April after two sexual misconduct accusations between deputies and explorers.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department reinstated ride alongs for members of its Explorers Program on Friday.

The program had been suspended in April after a pair of incidents involving accusations of sexual misconduct between deputies and Explorers while on ride alongs.

“Explorers are our future law enforcement officers,” Sheriff Rod Hoops said in a news release. “We must be committed to mentoring these young people to uphold the integrity of the law enforcement profession.”
