Shots Fired in Neighborhood, Redlands Man Arrested

Shots were fired Tuesday afternoon in the Lombard Street neighborhood west of Church Street and a Redlands man was arrested, a city spokesman said.

Gunfire struck an unoccupied vehicle and no one was injured, Redlands spokesman Carl Baker said.

Multiple people called police about shots fired in the 1000 block of Lombard just after 12:30 p.m. Aug. 13, Baker said.

"When officers arrived they found a parked 2006 Kia Spectra that had been struck by a bullet in the front windshield," Baker said. "Other shots struck a tire and a nearby fence."

Some people in the neighborhood heard gunshots and saw a vehicle, later identified as a 1998 Honda Accord, Baker said.

The Accord belonged to 22-year-old Brian Guadalupe Malgra, of Redlands, according to police.

Malgra was stopped by Redlands police late Tuesday as he drove in the area of Sierra Way and 15th Street in San Bernardino, Baker said.

He was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and booked at Central Detention Center in San Bernardino, where he was held Wednesday on $50,000 bail, according to inmate records.

Anyone with more info was urged to call Redlands Police Dispatch at (909) 798-7681. Anonymous tipsters can text 274637 using the keyword "REDTIP."
