Shots Fired at Group in Fontana Park Late Saturday, 16-Year-Old Girl Killed

Police responded to the shots fired call just before 11 p.m. Saturday May 26 at Northgate Park, in the 7800 block of Celeste Avenue, coroner's personnel reported.

A 16-year-old girl was fatally wounded in a shooting Saturday night in Northgate Park in Fontana, according to the San Bernardino County coroner.

Police responded to a shots fired call just before 11 p.m. May 26 in the 7800 block of Celeste Avenue, coroner's personnel reported.

"On arrival they were informed that a group of friends, who had gathered at the park, had been fired upon by unknown male subjects," a coroner's report stated. "A 16 year old girl, resident of Fontana, was pronounced dead at the scene."

The girl's name was withheld. The incident was being investigated by Fontana police Homicide Detail detectives.
