The contentious debate was billed as the only one between the candidates seeking to represent the 36th Congressional District. It took place Friday night in Palm Desert.

Incumbent Rep. Mary Bono Mack, R-Palm Springs, and physician Raul Ruiz, D-Coachella, who want to represent the San Gorgonio Pass and the rest of the new 36th Congressional District, squared off Friday night in a debate in Palm Desert.
