Stabbing Suspect Booking Photo Released

Ronald Dean Clayton, 55, was arrested and booked at Central Detention Center on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury. Police described Clayton as a transient.

A booking photo of a suspect accused of stabbing another man Thursday night at a Redlands bus stop was released Saturday.

The incident occurred after 8 p.m. Thursday Aug. 23 at a bus stop on Redlands Boulevard near Alabama Street, according to Redlands police.

The alleged victim, a 49-year-old man, was sitting at the bus stop when he became involved in an argument with another man, according to Redlands police.

"During the argument, the suspect stabbed the victim in the upper body," the police statement said. "The suspect fled and was located by police a short time later nearby."

The suspect, identified as Ronald Dean Clayton, was arrested and booked at Central Detention Center in San Bernardino. Police described Clayton as a transient.

"The victim was treated by Redlands Fire Department paramedics before being transported to a local hospital where he was admitted for treatment of his wounds," the police statement said. He was said to be in stable condition.

Clayton, 55, was held Saturday morning on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury, according to inmate records. Clayton's bail was listed at $50,000. He has a court appearance Monday in San Bernardino.
