Update: Man Denies Threatening College

Police say a 30-year-old Grand Terrace man used Facebook to threaten staff and students at Crafton Hills College.

A Crafton Hills College student who police say threatened a "Virginia Tech" style assault on his campus plead not guilty on Thursday.

Stanley Roring, 30, of Grand Terrace, pleaded not guilty to all counts via video. Bail was set at $100,000. Judge Annemarie G. Pace is handling the case.

Roring was arrested near his home Wednesday.

Valley College School District Police got word of the posting and reported it around 11 a.m. Wednesday to Grand Terrace Police.

According to police investigators, the post threatened a violent attack on students and staff that “would be similar in nature to the school shooting which occurred at Virginia Tech.” The Virginia university was attacked by a gunman in April 2007. Thirty-two people were killed by the shooter.

Roring's Facebook post also made reference to a “genocide” occurring, investigators said.

Investigators from Grand Terrace, Loma Linda and San Bernardino County Sheriff's Central Station tracked Roring near his home before he could carry out any of the threats.

Roring was booked into Central Detention Center on suspicion of making terrorist threats. His bail was set at $50,000.
