Suspect Accused of Stealing Girl Scouts Cookies Cash

Several members of Girl Scouts Troop 1303 were selling cookies in front of the State Bros. supermarket all day March 3 in Phelan, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

Girl Scouts leaders and anyone else selling Girl Scouts cookies in the Redlands and Loma Linda area may want to make note of this crime report from Phelan, west of Victorville, on Sunday.

Several members of Girl Scouts Troop 1303 were selling cookies in front of the Stater Bros. supermarket all day March 3 in Phelan, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

At about 6:50 p.m. the girls began packing up to go home, when a male suspect in a striped shirt walked up to their table, grabbed a bag containing all their sales cash and ran, Phelan Substation personnel said in a statement.

"One of the Girl Scouts ran after him, but fell causing minor scrapes and scratches," the statement said. "Video surveillance of the subject entering the store was obtained and placed into evidence."

The amount of cash taken was undisclosed.
