Teenage Cyclist Struck Near Citrus Valley High School

The 17-year-old boy was not wearing a helmet when he rode through a stop sign and was hit by a car.

A teenage cyclist was struck as he rode his bike near Citrus Valley High School on Thursday, according to a release from the Redlands Police Department.

The teen, 17, was not wearing a helmet when he rode through a stop sign about 7:15 a.m. Thursday and was struck by a car at the intersection of Webster and Pioneer Avenue near the school, according to Carl Baker, public information officer.

The driver, heading east on Pioneer, did not see the cyclist riding northbound, and struck him.

The boy was treated for a broken leg at Loma Linda University Medical Center.
