The conversation over the racially charged killing of Trayvon Martin reached the Occupy Redlands general assembly Wednesday night.
The group’s members tried to draw a lesson from the shooting and spoke about the need to further address violence and race relations.
Martin, 17, an African-American, was shot and killed on Feb. 26, by George Zimmerman - identified as Latino - in Sanford, a suburb of Orlando, Fla. The shooting happened as Martin walked back to his father’s house after buying Skittles and an iced tea from a nearby convenience store.
