Two Arrested in Redlands During Holiday Weekend

One man was arrested after crashing his vehicle then trying to hide from police.

Two people were arrested for allegedly driving under the influence over the Memorial Day weekend, including one who rolled his vehicle into a ditch and tried to leave the scene.

Just before 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Redlands Police officers responded to report that a vehicle crashed into a ditch at California Street and Redlands Boulevard. A 2005 Chevrolet Silverado was found in the ditch. Its 41-year-old driver was discovered nearby trying to hide behind a rock, officers said. He suffered minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Redlands Police conducted a sobriety checkpoint Friday night on the northbound lanes of Orange Street south of San Bernardino Avenue. The department also sent out DUI saturation patrols over the three-day weekend, officials said.

Officers conducted 14 field sobriety tests and arrested a 31-year-old Victorville woman suspected of driving under the influence, police said. Another driver was cited for driving without a valid license.
