Two Highland Men Accused of Auto Burglary, Theft, Possessing Stolen Property

Joshua Navarro, 22, and Eleuterio Navarro, 47, were arrested about 2 p.m. Friday July 27 at a residence in the 7500 block of Griffith Avenue, according to county inmate records.

Two Highland men were arrested Friday on suspicion of charges stemming from auto burglaries in east Highland north of Redlands, according to the Sheriff's Department.

Joshua Navarro, 22, and Eleuterio Navarro, 47, were arrested about 2 p.m. Friday July 27 at a residence in the 7500 block of Griffith Avenue, according to county inmate records.

One week before, in the early morning hours of July 20, suspects burglarized several vehicles in East Highland, Highland Station personnel said in a statement.

"Within minutes, the suspects used a credit card stolen from one of the vehicles to purchase gas at the Valero gas station" at 27981 Greenspot Road in Highland, deputies said.

"A few minutes later, the same suspects used a different vehicle and attempted to purchase gas at the Chevron gas station," deputies said. "When the suspect was unsuccessful at the pump, he walked into the store and was declined there as well. The suspect made numerous attempts to purchase items with the credit card at locations in nearby cities."

On Friday July 27, deputies and probation officers were checking the status of probationers at a residence in the 7500 block of Griffith when one of the deputies recognized the suspect vehicle parked next to the residence, according to Highland Station personnel.

"A search warrant was served and numerous items belonging to the victims were recovered," deputies said. "Joshua and Eleuterio Navarro, who lived at the residence, were later arrested for the theft and possession of stolen property."

Both men were behind bars at West Valley Detention Center, according to inmate records. Joshua Navarro's bail was listed as $27,500. Eleuterio Navarro was held without bail.
