Two-Vehicle Crash Forces Closure of San Timoteo Canyon Rd, 2 Hospitalized

The collision was reported about 12:40 p.m. between Fern Avenue and Alessandro Road, a Redlands spokesman said.

Update 8:28 p.m. A 25-year-old Moreno Valley woman and a 53-year-old Arleta man were hospitalized Monday in a two-vehicle crash in San Timoteo Canyon that kept the rural route closed for more than three hours, a city spokesman said.

The Moreno Valley woman was driving a Scion east on San Timoteo Canyon Road when she rounded a curve, crossed over the double yellow line, and collided head-on with a pickup driven by the Arleta man, Redlands spokesman Carl Baker said.

The road was closed between Alessandro Road and Fern Avenue from about 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Baker said.

Update 4:48 p.m. San Timoteo Canyon Road was cleared and re-opened Monday afternoon, a city spokesman said just after 4 p.m.

The collision was reported about 12:40 p.m. when one vehicle crossed into the oncoming traffic lane and struck another vehicle, Redlands spokesman Carl Baker said.

"The drivers of both vehicles involved have been transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries," Baker said. "The road closure is expected to last several hours."

Drivers were urged to find an alternate route.

San Timoteo Canyon Road is a popular shortcut from Redlands and Loma Linda to the San Gorgonio Pass or Moreno Valley.
