Victim Shot in Highland, Hospitalized in Loma Linda, Deputies Seek Gunman

The shooting occurred at 7:44 p.m. Dec. 23 in the 26000 block of Base Line, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

A victim was shot Sunday evening outside an apartment in Highland and deputies were seeking the alleged gunman, Highland Station personnel said in a statement Wednesday.

The shooting occurred at 7:44 p.m. Dec. 23 in the 26000 block of Base Line, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

The victim was standing outside a friend's apartment Sunday when a blue late 80s Honda Accord pulled up in the parking lot, deputies said.

"The passenger in the vehicle asked the victim a question, but before the victim could react, he produced a black colored 9MM, semiautomatic handgun and fired 4 to 10 rounds at the victim," deputies said. "The victim was struck twice in the left side of his lower back/side."

The suspect vehicle contained several Hispanic males and it was last seen leaving westbound on Base Line, deputies said.

The victim was taken to Loma Linda University Hospital and rushed into surgery, deputies said. He was listed in stable condition, according to the Wednesday statement.

Anyone with information that could lead to identification and apprehension of the suspect or suspects was urged to call Highland Station Detective A. Garcia at (909) 425-9793.
