VIDEO: UCR Chancellor Speaks About Alleged Gunman in Colorado Killings

UCR Chancellor Timothy P. White spoke Friday about suspected shooter James Holmes in this a video distributed by the university.

Some students and faculty at UC Riverside were "shocked and stunned" to learn the alleged gunman in the Batman movie shootings in Colorado was an honors graduate of their school, Chancellor Timothy P. White said Friday during a press conference in Riverside.

The suspect entered through the emergency exit of the venue in Aurora, Colo., and shot 70 people, killing 12, at a midnight premiere of "The Dark Knight Rises," the Denver Post reported.

The alleged shooter was identified as , a neuroscience graduate student who attended UC Riverside on a merit scholarship.

"The Dark Knight Rises" also premiered early Friday at , where hundreds attended showings scheduled at 12:01 a.m. July 20. There were 21 more screenings scheduled at the Krikorian later Friday.

Members of the National Association of Theatre Owners were Friday, a California-based spokesman for the association said in a statement.
