The crash was reported at 2:17 this morning on the westbound 210 Freeway just south of the Santa Ana Wash.

Fire officials said the victim’s late model Chevrolet pickup struck a Chevrolet Suburban. The truck also struck pepper trees along the freeway’s edge with such force that the bed of the truck came off the frame and landed 20 feet away, fire officials said.

The victim was thrown from the truck and landed on the bed of the truck, officials said. The driver of the Suburban was not injured. California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
