Yucaipa Man, Woman Accused of Meth Possession, Children Taken by County

Deputies found the drugs and paraphernalia, and said they found a woman had narcotics concealed on her body and inside the vehicle, Yucaipa Station personnel said.

A man and a woman who live in Yucaipa were arrested last week on suspicion of child cruelty and deputies recovered about a quarter-pound of suspected methamphetamine, prescription pills and drug paraphernalia, according to the Sheriff's Department.

The investigation that led to two arrests began about 11:20 a.m. Friday March 22 when deputies from the Yucaipa Multi Enforcement Team did a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation at 2nd Street and Avenue E, sheriff's personnel said in a statement.

Deputies found drugs and paraphernalia, and said they found a woman had narcotics concealed on her body and inside the vehicle, Yucaipa Station personnel said.

The woman's one-year-old child was also in the vehicle during the traffic stop, deputies said.

Deputies then searched an abandoned residence in the 12000 block of 2nd Street and found the child's father,Yucaipa Station personnel said. More suspected methamphetamine and marijuana were found at the location.

Deputies identified the couple as Jamie Rae Crossan, 34, and Kenneth Byron Bronson, 44, both of Yucaipa.

Representatives of the San Bernardino County Department of Children's and Family Services responded and assisted in the investigation, deputies said.

"A one year old girl and six month old boy were removed from Crossan and Bronson's custody and placed into a foster home," Yucaipa Station personnel said.

Crossan and Bronson were both booked at Central Detention Center on suspicion of willful cruelty to a child, deputies said. Crossan was also booked on suspicion of transportation of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.

Crossan and Bronson remained locked up Tuesday, Crossan at West Valley Detention Center and Bronson at Central Detention Center, according to inmate records. Individual bail for Crossan and Bronson was listed at $100,000 each.
