Andrew Breitbart took on Janeane Garofalo, Liberal Media Commentators

Andrew Breitbart had stinging words comedian/actor/ activist Janeane Garofalo who he says has labeled Tea Party members as racist.

Conservative commentator Andrew Breitbart had stinging words for left leaning public figures during his lecture Thursday night in Redlands.

In a country full of Tea Party critics, none seemed to earn his scorn more that night than comedian/actor/activist Janeane Garofalo. The author and radio personality gave her no less than four mentions during an hour-long address to about 400 people at the University of Redlands. Keith Olbermann, host of  "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" on Current TV, got about three.

The event was presented by to Redlands Tea Party Patriots, NewsTalk 590 KTIE and the University of Redlands Campus Diversity and Inclusion, Chaplain's Office and College Republicans.

Breitbart spoke at length about attempts by those on the left to vilify Tea Party members as racists in order to scare them away from the movement. One of the worst liberal offenders seemed to be Garofalo, who once used the term “Tea bagging rednecks,” while discussing a Tea Party protest in 2009.

Below are some of the statements he made during his appearance.

“I have had the ability to travel the country, probably about 39 states, been to countless Tea Parties, (met) countless good and decent people who have been maligned … by people who don’t know them or don’t want to know them. (It has been) distilled down to prejudice; that their motivation to control the federal deficit is based upon an innate racism. Isn’t that obvious to you? It’s obvious to Janeane Garofalo. It’s obvious to ABC, CBS and NBC.

Breitbart said the left accepted protesting of President George W. Bush’s administration as patriotic but then compares protests against President Obama to homegrown terrorism.

“OK, I see where you’re headed with this. And then Janeane Garofalo and comedians and the Olbermanns and the (Rachel) Maddows, started to say, ‘These people who are against Obama Care and who are against the stimulus and TARP are racist and it’s obvious that they’re racist. And the black people who are there are Uncle Toms.’ ”

During his discussion, Breitbart said men had become eunuchs thanks in part to media/sitcom portrayals of clueless husbands and strong problem-solving wives. This has helped lead to the emergence of women as leaders in the Tea Party movement.

“I go to these (Tea Party) events and I keep getting picked up by these ladies. And I’m, ‘Who are you?’ (Answer) ‘I’m the one who organized you being here. I’m the one who took care of your itinerary’ … I’m like, ‘You’re really organized. I’d like to hire you, if I had the money.’ And one event after the other I started to realize every single time I was getting picked up by a woman who was leading the charge who knew more about what was going on in politics in that town than anything that I would have imagined. This person was like the mayor or the editor of a newspaper all wrapped into one. And it was compelling. So I noticed one thing, diversity. Women. Opressor, oppressed. Alright, Virginia Slims … what is that phrase from Virginia Slims, you’ve come a long way baby. The Tea Party led by women. Janeane Garofalo should come down to one and realize that you don’t buy it.”

Breitbart said the media’s plays a role in trying to stifle the Tea Party movement.

“The mainstream media, the institutional left, by that I mean - The Center for American Progress, Media Matters, The Huffington Post, The Daily Kos – they try to dissuade you … They try to make it as painful as humanly possible to join a peoples movement. A grounds-up peoples movement to take the country back from fiscal insanity; To move away from American sovereignty, to move away from out foundational principals. We are finally realizing that they can’t beat us. And that if we go into the next election cycle with that battling spirit where we get petty and it’s about Janeane Garofalo or we turn the channel to Keith Olbermann, Channel 743, we’e got the government subsidized, no tax paid MSNBC and we’ve got the Gore channel where Keith Olbermann spends every single day making sure that he not interview one of you. Because if he does he’ll find out that you’re not the monster that he says you are.”
